The Project Injury, getting
lost, and hypothermia are part of the risks we take as backcountry skiers and
riders. Being prepared with
the right equipment, paying attention to the weather, and letting others know
where we’re going contribute to keeping us safe and self-reliant. However, accidents happen, and the
region’s search and rescue organizations are on standby 24/7 to help us
out if we need them. The NEBC’s SAR Fundraising Project acknowledges that
we’re relying on these organizations and the individuals who staff
them. The BC skiing and riding
community should support the SAR organizations in the region because they
support us. |
The SAR Organizations Thanks to the 150 people who came out for the show, we raised
$2000 at a showing of a backcountry skiing film called “The Pact”
on November 12th in Arlington Mass. at the Regent Theatre! We gave $1000 each to the following
organizations: The New Hampshire Outdoor Council NHOC is an umbrella group that provides
grants to many different White Mountains SAR organizations. SMR responds to incidents across
VT. They have a special
connection to backcountry skiers and riders and have helped produce a Backcountry Skiing and
Riding Safety Video. |
